Patents: Nokia and LG Technologies Sign License Agreement

Technology: Nokia Technologies entered into a license agreement with LG after which the Korean company will pay him royalties for the use of its patents related to 2G, 3G and 4G.

If Nokia's mobile devices division came under the leadership of Microsoft, the Finnish company still exists as three entities: Nokia Networks (communication infrastructure) that will merge with Alcatel-Lucent; Nokia Here, the mapping service which is for sale and interests many people; and finally Nokia Networks.

This division manages the commercial exploitation of the brand's patent portfolio has signed a licensing agreement with LG. It covers the use of patents related to 2G, 3G and 4G smartphones by the Korean manufacturer. LG joins sixty other manufacturers who have signed similar agreements with Nokia. The amount of royalties that LG will pay is not yet set. It will be a commercial arbitration which should result in one to two years.
